I took a five day weekend (I love my work schedule) over July 4th. Started in Glenwood Springs, CO where I stayed with/hung out with my friend Lynne. It’d been awhile. Was good to catch up!
Plan was to head to Crested Butte, CO to hike and take in the bumper crop of wildflowers. Met up with some friends there as well. Took some back roads there. More on that later.
Lynne took me to the Carbondale First Friday Artwalk. Carbondale is a beautiful little town at the foot of Mt Sopris, just shy of 13,000′. It’s small, it’s idyllic, at the top of the Roaring Fork Valley, the gateway to several Wilderness areas it’s beautiful. It’s very costly to live there. I would try it.
Gorged pizza with dairy-free cheese at a little Italian joint she recommended. My lactose-free belly was elated! Out back there was this bus, a kooky, painted bus she and a some friends painted. It was grand!

The origin of the moniker:
Yes it does!
Other side was just as colorful.
Bunked down in comfort that night and headed into the hills the next AM.
To be continued…
